Dragonflies

Here are some dragonfly pictures taken on different days in October near Sabino Creek.

I am learning that dragonflies can be hard to identify.

Flame Skimmer?

Neon Skimmer?

Some kind of damselfly...a spreadwing maybe?

However, this filigree skimmer was easy for me to name since Chris at Las Adventuras had already done the work of identifying one like it for his blog.

Filigree Skimmer

With wings resembling skeletonized leaves, it seems the filigree skimmer has the perfect camouflage for this wooded area.

And finally, this large dragonfly that landed on a boulder might be a serpent ringtail...perhaps.

Well, no matter what they're called, I think dragonflies are cute!
